Let’s say you are a freelancer, who has just set up (or not yet) social media accounts for a business. Now you have to find the first client. But how do you do that?

Network like crazy! When you are starting, you have to be EVERYWHERE! Set up accounts in freelancing platforms, create a profile on Linkedin, Facebook/Instagram. If you are a designer, create a Behance account. If you are a developer, use GitHub. If you are a videographer, use Vimeo.
Collaborate! No one will know about you if you will not go out there, meet people and collaborate. Offer to create a mutual giveaway, create some sort of package together and sell it.
If you don’t see the results after looking for the client - look harder! It can be so discouraging, but please don’t give up. Try to cold mail your potential clients, or approach small businesses offering your products. Until you build your name up, it will take a lot of effort. You are not alone, every freelancer started of this.
Airtasker! This is an amazing platform. Set it up, tell about your experience, get the portfolio done and look for customers. You just have to present yourself well.
Networking events. Find out if there are any events in your city, where you can present yourself and your business. Great way to collaborate.
Of course, ask your loved ones, and people you’ve done the job for, to recommend you. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to get clients.
